Auto-Owners Insurance Claim

Automotive Glass Insurance Claim

It’s the weekend.

You and your friends are off to the new amusement park just down the interstate from you. The windows are down and the music is up. Life just seems to be going the way you want it to.

You’ve been cruising down the highway with no cars in sight for the past ten or so miles when all of a sudden, a large work truck with a sign on the back telling you to keep back at least 100 feet enters your lane ahead of you.

Just as you’re about to put on your turn signal to pass them, a rock the size of a golf ball flies out of the uncovered back of the truck and hits you directly on the windshield.

So much for a day at the amusement park. A day filing an automotive glass insurance claim with your carrier, Auto-Owners, is now on top of your to-do list.

Luckily for you, you live right near an experienced auto glass repair company who happens to work in the field of relieving you of the pressure of communicating with your insurance carrier.

Lloyd’s of Shelton is located only miles from the downtown hub of Tampa. We’re here to assist you with not only your windshield repair, but making things between you and your insurance provider simpler.

Filing a claim through Auto-Owners

There are only a few steps to filing an automotive glass insurance claim with Auto-Owners. The following will be needed:

  • Your Auto-Owners insurance card
  • Your Vehicle Identification Number
  • The date and time of the incident (also referred to as ‘Date of Loss’)
  • Details on where and when the damage to your windshield occurred
  • The size of the damage

What does my Auto-Owners automotive glass insurance claim cover?

Policyholders who possess comprehensive coverage are luckily covered under a great deal of incidents that may affect one’s car. We’re talking anything from hurricane damage to tree branches falling on top of your car during high force winds. Windshield damage is one of these incidents covered by comprehensive coverage.

Another plus is that by living in the state of Florida, you are not liable to pay for any expenses related to windshield repair or replacement.

Under Florida Statute 627.7288, deductibles for comprehensive coverage are not applicable to motor vehicle glass.

“Comprehensive coverage; deductible not to apply to motor vehicle glass.—The deductible provisions of any policy of motor vehicle insurance, delivered or issued in this state by an authorized insurer, providing comprehensive coverage or combined additional coverage shall not be applicable to damage to the windshield of any motor vehicle covered under such policy.”
